Pentax Q10 Review: A Tiny Camera I Still Love Using

Man, this is old, really really old, but I got to tell you, it can still compete with newer cameras in picture quality when the light is right. But in autofocus, it feels decades old now.

The Pentax Q10 was one of the early tiny interchangeable-lens mirrorless cameras out there. Pocket size. I could just put it in my front pocket, especially with the prime lens it had. That fast prime made it a joy to carry around. How I wish Pentax actually kept this system going longer.

Why I still like the Pentax Q10

It isn’t about winning a specification contest. It’s about having a real interchangeable-lens camera that’s so small you actually bring it with you. For casual daylight photos, I still enjoy the results and the experience.

Where its age shows

Autofocus isn’t remotely like what we’re used to from modern cameras, and its small sensor struggles more as light fades. If you want reliable action tracking or clean high-ISO files, there are better choices today.

My verdict

For me, the Q10 is a little piece of camera history that remains fun to shoot. It won’t replace a modern workhorse, but it still makes me want to go out and take pictures. I’ll add more of my own sample photographs and observations as I continue using it.
