Like smoke flowing into the air, this figure is sleek.
I can’t say enough about how they made this. Great joints, great movements, and the feet! The feet are good enough that this figure can stand on its own. A lot of other S.H.Figuarts and figma figures can’t do that very well, especially when you start giving them different action poses.
This is Yuta Okkotsu fromJujutsu Kaisen 0, and I have to say, Bandai did a wonderful job bringing him to life.
It isn’t perfect. I have some complaints about the sword and the way the face clips into the head, but there is a lot more to love here than to dislike.
Who Is Yuta Okkotsu?

Yuta is one of the main characters ofJujutsu Kaisen, and the central character of Jujutsu Kaisen 0.
Unlike some of the other characters, Yuta wasn’t introduced as a confident fighter. He was a troubled, rather nervous young man haunted by Rika Orimoto, his childhood friend who became a powerful cursed spirit after her death.
Satoru Gojo eventually brings him to Tokyo Jujutsu High, where Yuta begins learning to control his tremendous cursed energy and develops his swordsmanship.
What makes Yuta interesting is that he isn’t your typical loud anime protagonist. He starts off quiet, frightened and unsure of himself, but underneath all that is someone with extraordinary power.
And that is something I love about this particular figure. It captures both sides of him.
First Impressions and Sculpting

The first thing I noticed was how clean the figure looked.
Yuta wears his recognizable white uniform with dark trousers. It is a relatively simple design compared with many other anime characters, but Bandai managed to make it interesting through the sculpting.
The folds in the uniform, the collar, the shape of the trousers and even the shoes look good together.
Sometimes action figures have all these unnecessary details that make them look complicated. Yuta doesn’t need any of that. His design is simple, and that simplicity actually makes him look better.
The proportions are also excellent. His head doesn’t look ridiculously oversized, and his body looks natural.
And I really love the face.
The Faces Are Fantastic, But There Is a Problem

One of the best things about this figure is the selection of expressions.
You get different faces that help bring out Yuta’s personality. There is the more reserved look and the much more intense expressions that you would expect when he is fighting.
I particularly love the shouting face. The eyes, eyebrows and open mouth make him look like he has come straight out of the anime.
During my unboxing, I tried changing the faces, and visually I was impressed with how good they looked.
However, here comes one of my complaints.
The clipping mechanism for the faces isn’t as good as on some of my other S.H.Figuarts figures.
I found changing and fitting the face a little more troublesome than I expected. The fit doesn’t feel quite as satisfying as on some other figures in my collection.
This is a shame because the expressions themselves are excellent. I love the sculpting and the painting, but the attachment mechanism could have been better.
Articulation: One of Its Biggest Strengths

Now this is where Yuta really shines.
The joints are excellent. The arms, legs, knees and torso provide enough movement to create some very convincing poses.
You can make him stand naturally, prepare to attack, hold his sword or take on a more dramatic fighting stance.
What I particularly like is how smoothly the figure moves. It doesn’t feel as if I am fighting against the joints just to get the pose I want.
Another thing I really appreciate is the balance.
Yuta can stand without needing a display stand for many ordinary poses.
This is something I wish more action figure manufacturers would pay attention to.
I’ve owned plenty of S.H.Figuarts and figma figures that look beautiful but become frustrating when you try to make them stand. Sometimes all it takes is a slight adjustment and down they go.
Yuta is much better in this regard.
Of course, if you’re planning some crazy jumping or airborne action pose, you’ll still want a proper display stand. But for normal display purposes, his feet and balance are impressive.
The only small visual compromise is that some of the joints become noticeable when you bend the arms and legs into more extreme positions. That’s fairly common with articulated figures, and it doesn’t ruin the overall appearance for me.
The Sword and Accessories

Yuta wouldn’t be Yuta without his sword.
Bandai included the sword, different interchangeable hands, two ways of carrying the sword bag, and a loudspeaker.
The sword looks good when you first take it out. Its proportions suit the figure, and it works nicely with the different fighting poses.
The hands also allow you to change how Yuta holds his accessories, giving you more choices when displaying him.
I also like the inclusion of the loudspeaker. It is a nice little reference to the movie and gives you another way to display the character instead of always having him carry his sword.
But I have one complaint about the sword.
The colors on the sword do become duller after a while.
This is something I noticed with mine over time. The finish doesn’t retain quite the same appearance it had originally.
For an action figure where the sword is such an important accessory, I wish Bandai had used a more durable finish.
It doesn’t make the sword useless, and it still looks fine when displayed, but it is disappointing.
Another thing worth mentioning is the absence of a proper cursed energy effect accessory. An effect piece would have made some of the fighting poses even more interesting.
What I Love About This Figure
- Excellent articulation. The joints make posing enjoyable without making the figure feel unnecessarily complicated.
- Great balance. The feet are surprisingly good, allowing Yuta to stand independently in many poses.
- Beautiful facial expressions. The sculpted eyes, eyebrows and expressions capture Yuta’s personality.
- Clean character design. The white uniform and dark trousers look fantastic without relying on excessive detailing.
- Good accessories. The sword, carrying bags, interchangeable hands and loudspeaker offer plenty of display options.
- Faithful proportions. It looks like Yuta from the movie rather than an exaggerated interpretation.
What Could Be Better
- Sword finish. The colors on mine have become duller over time.
- Face attachment. The way the faces clip into place could be better and feels less refined than on some other figures.
- Visible joints. Certain extreme poses reveal more of the articulation mechanism.
- Limited effects. A cursed energy effect would have been a welcome addition.
- No included display stand. This isn’t a major issue for ordinary poses, but one would have been useful for aerial fighting scenes.
Final Verdict
I really like this Yuta Okkotsu.
The figure has a certain elegance to it. The way the body moves, the shape of the uniform, and the excellent balance all come together to make something that feels properly designed.
And again, those faces! I really love how they captured his expressions. The shouting face in particular makes him look alive.
Is it perfect? No.
The sword finish could have been better, and I certainly wish the face attachment mechanism were more refined.
But these problems don’t take away from how much I enjoy the figure.
I’ve handled quite a few anime action figures over the years, and one thing I always appreciate is a figure that looks good without making posing an unnecessarily difficult experience.
Yuta manages that very well.
For fans of Jujutsu Kaisen 0, this is an excellent representation of the character, especially if you appreciate articulation, expressive faces and a figure that can actually stand on its own.
A sleek, expressive and surprisingly well balanced figure with a few imperfections that keep it from being perfect.
