Watermelon Melon Rose Drink with Honey and Pomegranate Molasses

آبمیوه هندوانه و گلاب با رب انار مخصوص لنگرود

This watermelon melon rose drink is cold, sweet, and very refreshing. It is made with watermelon, melon, rose water, honey, and a small touch of pomegranate molasses. The taste is sweet, floral, lightly tangy, and perfect for hot weather.

This recipe is inspired by the outskirts of Langroud in Gilan, near the tea farms. My grandfather used to make cold fruit drinks there to help everyone cool down during warm days. The watermelon and melon give the drink a naturally sweet base, while the rose water adds that familiar Persian aroma. A little pomegranate molasses gives it more depth without making it too sour.

I usually prefer this drink on the sweeter side, so I use honey and avoid adding too much lime. Lime juice is optional, but I like this better when the watermelon, melon, rose water, and honey stand out more.

Blender

For this recipe, I used a high-powered blender because the drink has ice, watermelon, melon, honey, and pomegranate molasses. A strong blender helps make the drink smoother and colder without leaving big ice pieces.

Rose Water

Rose Water gives this drink its Persian-style floral aroma. Use a small amount only because rose water can become too strong if you add too much. I recommend Sadaf but you can use others like i did in the video.

Pomegranate Molasses

Pomegranate molasses adds a deeper sweet-sour flavor to the drink. You do not need a lot. One teaspoon is enough to give it character without overpowering the watermelon and melon. Sadaf Pomegranate Molasses. You can also use any pomegranate molasses brand available near you.

Instructions

  1. Add the chopped watermelon and melon into a blender.
  2. Add the ice.
  3. Pour in the rose water.
  4. Add the pomegranate molasses.
  5. Add 3 teaspoons of honey.
  6. Blend until smooth, cold, and slightly frothy.
  7. Taste and adjust the sweetness if needed.
  8. Pour into a glass and serve immediately.

Recipe Notes

Use only a small amount of pomegranate molasses because it has a strong flavor. It should give the drink a light sour-sweet background, not overpower the watermelon and melon.

Rose water should also be added carefully. One tablespoon is enough for a floral taste without making the drink taste like perfume.

For a sweeter drink, skip the lime juice and add a little more honey. For a sharper and more refreshing version, add a small squeeze of lime.
